On 6 November, the Prime Minister of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, met Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen in Helsinki. Prime Minister Erdoğan was accompanied by members of the Turkish government and a business delegation consisting of almost 190 representatives of key Turkish businesses.
In addition to both Prime Ministers, also Zafer Çağlayan, Minister of Economy of Turkey, and Alexander Stubb, Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade of Finland, participated to Turkish-Finnish Business Forum that took place at Finlandia Hall.
The main focus of the visit was on economic issues and they played a prominent role in the premiers' bilateral discussions. The prime ministers also discussed Turkey’s EU membership negotiations and related internal reforms in Turkey. The meeting agenda also included other key regional and international issues.
During his visit, Prime Minister Erdoğan also met President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö, Speaker of Parliament Eero Heinäluoma and representatives of Finnish businesses.
