Country Branding and Media Coordinator

The Embassy of Finland in Ankara is looking to hire a Country Branding and Media Coordinator from 1st March 2018

Main area of responsibility for the Coordinator will be Country Branding, as the Coordinator will plan and execute country image building activities as a part of Team Finland network and in collaboration with the Country Branding team. Tasks include updating social media channels and the Embassy website, planning and organizing events, following local media and reporting on media issues. The Coordinator will also provide support to the diplomatic personnel in following issues of interest to Finland in Turkey and in networking with counterparts of the Embassy, in particular with media and civil society representatives.

The Coordinator will have a suitable degree, preferably university level, in e.g. communication, arts or languages, as well as excellent communication, coordination and organizational skills. They must be attentive to detail as well as mindful of protocol etc. issues relating to working in a diplomatic mission. The qualified candidate will have thorough knowledge of the English and Turkish languages; Finnish is a strong advantage but not an absolute requirement. Other language skills would be an asset. The Coordinator must have excellent knowledge of both Finland and Turkey as countries, and of their societies. The qualified candidate will have a proven track record of showing initiative and delivering on set objectives working independently and efficiently. Previous experience of working in a diplomatic mission is an advantage, as is demonstrable knowledge and interest in the foreign policy priorities of Finland.

Technical and IT skills required are: Microsoft Office package, including Word, Power Point, Excel. Skills must include photographing, digital processing of photographs, layout etc. using e.g. MS Paint, and ability to edit webpages using content management tools.

Security clearance will be carried out for the candidate considered for the position, with their consent (Security Clearance Act 726/2014). Salary and terms of employment are based on Turkish legislation. The selected candidate will be offered a fixed two year contract with possibility of extension.
